Sustainability Research Centre
Sustainability Research Centre
The Sustainability Research Centre is an interdisciplinary professional unit of the University Research and Innovation Center of Óbuda University, which examines sustainability through a complex, systems-based approach. The Centre aims to develop scientific and practical solutions connected to the University’s research, education, and innovation activities that contribute to climate adaptation, resource efficiency, and the creation of a liveable environment.
The Centre operates as an externally located research unit at the Ybl Miklós Faculty of Architecture and Civil Engineering, with a key mission to provide scientific foundations and advance the sustainability of the built environment. Within this framework, it contributes to strengthening architectural and construction-related research, with particular emphasis on climate-adaptive, energy-efficient, and heritage-sensitive solutions.
The Research Centre also serves a coordinating and catalytic role across the entire University: it connects research groups operating within different faculties, supports interdisciplinary collaborations, and facilitates the university-level development of sustainability-related research and innovation.
Mission of the Research Centre
The mission of the Sustainability Research Centre is to contribute—based on the knowledge base of Óbuda University—to the scientific and practical foundations of the sustainable transition.
Its objectives are:
